Like the metamorphosis of the caterpillar into the butterfly, finding my voice and sharing my story has caused me to undergo a complete transformation. Due to my own experiences of trauma and discrimination, I am passionate about helping people from all walks of life heal from their wounds. The systemic power imbalances in society cause many people to accept injustice, to have their voices be silenced and to accept blame for wrongs committed by others. Whether it is painful childhood memories, one or more major events, relationships, or a series of micro-traumas, untreated trauma causes changes in the brain and body. This shapes us in subtle ways, many of which are deeply unconscious and affect our self-worth and behaviour. Through a process of self-discovery and exploration, I re-authored a more empowering life narrative. The stories we tell, define our lives in our own eyes and in the eyes of others. I aim to help you break free from the thought patterns that cause you to experience the same types of situations, events and people in your life. Different narratives lead to different future experiences.
The first step in healing is recognition that your past experiences may be influencing you in this moment in ways that you may not even understand. What self-limiting beliefs have you incorporated into your story? I commend your courage in seeking a guide to begin your own metamorphosis. Regardless of what happened to you in the past, it is never too late start the healing process; to find your voice and express your truth. It is possible for you to obtain a new lease on life and to embrace a future filled with things that have seemed out of reach.
I believe that each person has all the wisdom they need to heal buried deep within themselves. It is my role to create a safe and confidential space for you to re-discover your values, needs, wishes and desires. You may discover hidden parts of yourself as you talk openly and honestly without fear of judgement. This new self-awareness may cause you to change the way you approach life.
I am pictured here at my favourite labyrinth. This is one of my favourite practices for transformation and connecting with one's inner knowing. As one walks from the outer to the inner circle, fresh ideas appear, sometimes to problems that have been with you for years. You pose a question, or repeat a mantra, word or phrase, and stay open to the guidance that will come as you slowly walk along the path. It is a metaphor for life, the labyrinth takes you on a path of twists and turns, sometimes you feel closer to the center and sometimes you are much further out, but ultimately you reach the center, which could be thought of as your destiny. All the people and experiences along the way, some not understood at the time, were preparing you for where you are ultimately supposed to be. You don't need to worry about making a wrong turn, because there are no wrong turns. There is one path that was meant for you that will lead you to the center. Nothing can stop you from reaching there. When you arrive, all the twists and turns will finally make sense. They shaped and prepared you for what was rightfully yours all along.
