Farah H
Farah is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from York University.
Bio:
As an immigrant young, woman of color, I have the ability to experience and understand the complex dynamics that can affect, hinder and create obstacles for clients. Being an advocate for intentional client-centered care has highlighted the commonality of us, as human beings. We are all navigating various nuances of life, whether that is our identity, mental health, physical health, relationships, and profession. I strive to provide a safe, reflexive, confidential and comforting space to support clients in self-identifying the unconscious, through the provision of necessary tools to understand and create capacity for change. My motivation stems from my personal and professional experience of breaking the stigmas and barriers to receive and provide culturally competent care.
I offer support to clients who are experiencing anxiety (Social anxiety, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder), depression, racial identity challenges, school issues, professional challenges, stress, substance use, bipolar disorder, family conflict, emotional disturbance, peer relationships, self esteem challenges, and behavioural issues.
Within an anti-oppression, strengths-based and trauma informed framework, I draw upon an array of modalities, including, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Interventions and Crisis Intervention.
Note: Farah's psychotherapy sessions are covered under private insurance plans under social workers. She generally works evenings and weekends.
